The ...I think some fact checking is warranted here. The comments about not even being able to walk in a Wilderness Area are entirely false. The facts are quite different...nothing motorized is allowed but things like bicycles, horses and sluices are ok in both Wilderness and National Monument. National Monument is less restrictive than Wilderness in fact, generally allowing a variety of historical uses of the land to continue such as jeep roads, cattle grazing, etc. which would not be allowed in Wilderness in most cases. The lands are closed to mining in the sense that no new claims are allowed but for the casual, non-motorized miner this might even be a good thing since it ensures access!<br /><br />It is entirely possible the original articla author has some valid points...unfortunately all this misinformation gets in the way of his credibility and most likely his message too. :(Kevin Snoreply@blogger.com
